After an epic fast race at Gopher Dunes two weekends ago, with MX Pro Nathan Bles taking the wins, this weekend event is shaping up to be another fast, fun ride that will entertain and challenge riders of all skill levels. On Sunday the CXCC East #1 plates will be handed out in all classes from Pee Wee to Pro.
Honda’s Jason Schrage will again make the trip from Alberta to dice it up with the best in the east. With a more technical course to compete on this time will he be able to shine and take the win from the MX trained riders like KTM’s Josh Long and GDR Honda rider Nathan Bles? Will Yamaha’s Brian Wojnarowski be able to stay ahead of the Honda & KTM boys? Will the current Ontario XC points leader Adam Millson – a former MX racer who shines in technical off road terrain – be able to get his Yamaha on the podium? Lots of questions that will all be answered this weekend.
The course will consist of the Full Walton MX track, including the always popular natural double, and great mix of both fast flowing trials and slower technical trails. For the afternoon racers (Pro, Intermediate, Junior and Vet Master) there will be a special technical woods section to give the off road specialists the opportunity to make up time on the MX racers who fly on the natural terrain MX course.
Saturday and Sunday will be seperate events both paying points to the CXCC East and the Wiesner Insurance Ontario XC Championship. Saturday’s race will be Moto XC format with all adult classes riding 2 one hour motos with the first one starting at 11am. Sunday will be the classic format with all adult classes riding for 2 hours (2.5 for Pro). There will be podium prizes from Parts Canada, Rekluse, Royal Distributing, Goldentyre, Inglis Cycle and Red Bull.
There will be an all new Enduro style PeeWee course with riders using part of the same course the adults will use! Mini Jr and Mini Sr will also see more of the great Walton trails this year.
The pits, and timing area for this weekend will be on the east side of the property by the new building – everyone needs to enter at Gate B and set up in the grassy area between the road and the new Building. New for this year are HOT showers and bike wash area conveniently located beside the pits. Another great new addition is a playground and RC car track very close to timing/gas alley. Something to keep the kids occupied during the adult races.
Once again, because this is a National Event all Canadian and US race licenses will be accepted (CMRC, TVR, Off Road Ontario, CMX, AMA, Etc). This event is open to all!
